So I’m writing a paper on supermarkets in low income neighborhood and the Ralphs in your neighboor immidiately came to mind because I shopped there many times. The focus of my writing and photo essay will be the poor quality of produce and meat in urban low income neighboorhoods. I am also comparing the services offered at the Ralphs at 1730 W. Manchester versus other Ralphs in more affluent neighborhoods. I type all of this to just applaud what you are doing and offer support. I want to befriend you on facebook and I want to show up on 1/23/10 to plant a tree. You have my email please let me know how to find you. Keep up the hard work!

    Many Blessings

Wonderful!! I will find you on facebook and also email you separately. I applaud YOU, too!!! You must contact Community Coalition in South LA for your paper. They’re on Vermont. Several years ago, they found out from a tip from a driver for Ralphs that spoiled meat was being driven from stores in the northern part of the city and re-dyed and sold at the Ralphs on Manchester. CBS did and investigation and found that it was true. Community Coalition led a protest at the store.
Thanks so much for reading and for the work you’re doing. Look forward to seeing you in January! taj

Intersections: The South LA Report would like to know when you schedule the next tree plantings so we can include them on our calendar. Intersections is a community website that features work by USC journalism students, community members and South LA high school students. Please feel free to submit work to the website, including photos. Thanks for bringing green to the neighborhood.
